We are fantastically situated – at 67.8° N and 14.8° E – at the edge of the ocean with Vestfjorden as our nearest neighbour and fantastic view towards Lofoten and Vesterålen. The place is surrounded by a beautiful archipelago, high mountains plunging straight into the sea, clean water and fresh air. Board and management meetings

Villa Haugen is well suited for board and management meetings for small and medium-sized companies. Located on an island in Steigen, participants can create strong relationships through shared experiences. We have various meeting packages that can be adapted to your company’s needs. We can also help arrange transport to and from Steigen.

Traditional cod fishing

Skrei is migrating cod that comes from the Barents Sea to the coast of Northern Norway to spawn every year. We have arranged a package where fishing enthusiasts can participate in this traditional fishing and at the same time get insight into how the fish should be treated from the time it is pulled out of the sea until it hangs on a traditional fish rack. It will be possible to hang your own fish to dry and have this sent back.

Interested parties are requested to contact directly for program and booking –
minimum 8-10 persons.

Easter get-together

How about celebrating Easter in a setting reminiscent of the happy 1920s? Imagine the ladies in evening gowns and the gentlemen in tuxedos or fancy suits! Music played on a good old-fashioned record player! Food served in glamorous surroundings and bubbles in tall crystal glasses! All wrapped up in a historic backdrop in what was once home to one of the wealthiest families in Northern Norway!

Where the sun never sets

From late May to mid-July, it is possible to experience the midnight sun in Steigen.  Our unique location on an island – allow guests to watch the sun 24 hours of the day.  From our gazebo and quayside area – you will be able to see how the sun dances across the Lofoten mountains during nighttime. And remember – in Norway we have daylight saving time – which means that the sun is at its lowest at 0100 at night.

Chasing the Northern light

The aurora borealis is a fantastic sight and a watershed experience. Due to Villa Haugen’s location facing the sea without any form of "light pollution", it is an
ideal place to experience this fascinating celestial spectacle. On cold evenings, guests can alternatively warm themselves in our gazebo with a 360 degree view or relax in our hot tub on the quayside. If you first get to experience the dancing light – then you will have a memory for life.

Christmas party

Welcome to the annual Christmas party at Villa Haugen. Our Christmas party season starts every year at the end of November and lasts until the last weekend before Christmas Eve. The Christmas dinner menu will be a 4 course dinner consisting of traditional Norwegian Christmas dishes.

We will pick you up and bring you between Nordskot and Grøtøy. If needed – we can offer accommodation at favourable prices.

Activities

Walks in the nearby vicinity
We can facilitate spectacular walks in the vicinity of Villa Haugen – be it mountain hiking or to one of the nearby islands. No matter which trips you choose, the view and nature experience will be a memory for life. Although it will be weather dependent – this is an activity that you can mostly perform all year round.

Boat trips
The sea in the area is considered one of the cleanest in the world. This means that the sea here is an excellent nursery place for all types of creatures including whales, fish, sea eagles, various seabirds, etc. As a guest at Villa Haugen, it is possible to join sea eagle safaris, fishing trips and rib trips. Most of these activities can be done all year round – although the weather can have an impact.

Kayaking
Steigen has its own archipelago with hundreds of small islands, islets and skerries. Here guests can find their own "private" white beach. At the same time, the area is largely characterized by tidal differences that can reach up to 4 meters. The best way to experience this is to rent a kayak – though weather dependent – it can be carried out pretty much all year around – perhaps with the exception of part of the winter season.

Hot tub/sauna
Villa Haugen has both its own hot tub and sauna that guests can use. Here you can relax after a hike watching the Midnight Sun or the Northern Lights.

Arctic lunch
Guests can join in and participate actively if desired in fishing and harvesting the temptations of the sea – which is then translated into an outdoor lunch. Alternatively, we can combine a trip to one of the nearby islands with a picnic. The activity can be carried out all year around but is weather dependent.
