We are located in Steigen in Nordland – at the edge of the ocean – with fantastic views of Lofoten and Vesterålen. Here guests can experience steep mountains, deep fjords, thousands of islands, islets and reefs, white sandy beaches and even a small glacier – making the area a Norway in miniature.

Accomodation

Villa Haugen has 16 beds with great sea views. All our rooms have private bathrooms upgraded to meet modern standards. Two of the rooms have a private balcony.

Restaurant

Villa Haugen offers full board. In our Restaurant Grjot (old Norse for stone or rock and Grøtøy comes from grjot = the stone island) 4, 5 and 7 course dinners are served. Our menus are based on local produce.

Activities

Villa Haugen is located in an area rich in cultural heritage, history and unspoiled nature – for many still an undiscovered gem. This makes the area great for different types of activities in undisturbed surroundings.

Villa Haugen was part of Grøtøy old trading post in Steigen, Nordland. The trading post was established in 1690 and was considered one of the most important and influential trading posts in Nordland.
The location is surrounded by a beautiful archipelago, tall mountains that plunge straight into the sea, clean water, and fresh air. An area where one can nurture both the body and soul.

This is amazing Hotel is one-of-a-kind. The hosts/owners have created a wonderful hotel with a warm and personal touch. The beds are great, the rooms and the facilities are very pleasant, and the meals are fantastic. The surroundings are full of exciting destinations in the most amazing scenery.

We found Villa Haugen to be a World Class hotel offering the most spectacular scenery, outstandig personal service and top-of-the class facilities and comfort. A very impressive place that will leave any visitors with memories for life.

During our trip to Norway we stayed in some historic hotels. But Unni's and John's hospitality and service remain unmatched! We were 3 guests with 2 hosts and they took care of every wish we had. It started with the pickup-service by boat in Nordskot over to the storytelling of the house's history to excellent breakfasts and amazing dinners. And don't miss the hot tub with the amazing view if you stay there!
